Wavefront technology works by analyzing the way light passes through your eye and comparing that to the way it would pass through a theoretically perfect eye. It then uses this information to create a detailed, three-dimensional map - a "WavePrint" - of the visual aberrations specific to your eyes. The map is able to plot not only the lower-order aberrations (nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism), but also higher-order aberrations that are linked to problems with halos, glare, starburst and other night vision problems. Some of these higher order aberrations - which are untreatable with glasses, contacts, or traditional LASIK - can be successfully treated using custom LASIK with the CustomVue system.
Wavefront anaylsis with the WaveScan will be used at two specific points during your vision correction treatment. It will first be used pre-operatively to help determine whether you are a good candidate for custom LASIK in New Jersey.
